Check Out the Catholic Cartoonist

(Plain Text Version)

Distance and physical infirmity didn’t keep the Holy Father from visiting Indonesia and several other island nations.  The above images are from East Timor, a nation with an overwhelmingly Catholic population.  About 600,0000 people participated in the papal Mass.

Have you heard of the Catholic Cartoonist?

I have always loved cartoons.  Many years ago, I would load the daily newspapers onto my bicycle and deliver them.  My work habits weren’t the best—I didn’t start my deliveries until I read the comics!

Over the years, I found comics less and less interesting … but not anymore.  A steady stream of beautiful, funny and holy episodes are produced by a young cartoonist named Joshua Masterson.  I could say a lot more, but why not see for yourself:

The Bible in a Year  Podcast

For many years, I have been blessed with a persistent case of insomnia.  Most nights, I have to get up for about an hour.  This is a nuisance, but it is an opportunity to learn the faith.  I have been listening to The Bible in a Year, a podcast by Ascension Press.  In each episode Fr. Mike Schmitz reads several chapters of the Bible and gives a brief commentary.

The Bible in a Year is available for free on the Ascension Press app, YouTube, and on podcast apps. On YouTube and Ascension Press, one can follow the text display in addition to the audio presentation.  I have used several apps, and like the Ascension Press app the best.

The Catechism in a Year podcast follows a similar format to cover the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

There is no pressure to keep up with a schedule.  The 365 episodes can be accessed in any order, at any time.

A Prayer to Spiritually Adopt an Unborn Child

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love you very much.  I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child I have spiritually adopted, who is in danger of abortion.
