(Plain Text Version)
ONE GOD IN THREE PERSONS
I believe that there are three Persons in God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; that all three Persons are distinct from one another and equal in all things.
(From Msgr. Stedman’s Missal)
God exists as a community of persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This knowledge of God’s nature is beyond our understanding. We would never know this if God hadn’t revealed it.
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three Persons in one God. They are three Persons, but not three gods. They are equal in all things. They are distinct from each other, but they are united in perfect love, and always work together. For example, we refer to the Father as the creator of everything, but the Son and the Holy Spirit were intimately involved in this action.
We must never let a lack of understanding hold us back from believing what God has told us. There are consequences to what we believe. If we believe that God is a single Person, we won’t understand how deeply He loves us.
Let us be glad that God has revealed Himself to us. Let us put ourselves into His hands, and enjoy the life He shares with us.
BLESSED MICHAEL MC GIVNEY, PRAY FOR US!
Today, October 31, Fr. Michael Mc Givney will be declared “Blessed” by the Church. This is done after examining his life and after verifying that he has obtained a miracle from God. He receives this honor so that we can use him as a model for our lives. In addition, we can ask him to take our requests directly to God.
Fr. Mc Givney served as a parish priest in Connecticut in the late 19th century. Most of his parishioners were poor Irish immigrants. He was deeply involved in their lives. In addition to spiritual needs, he helped relieve poverty, and organized wholesome activities.
He is best known as the founder of the Knights of Columbus, a society of Catholic men dedicated to works of charity.
In Heaven, he continues to help us with our needs, small and large.
