Justice

THE SIMPLE CATECHISM—FROM MSGR. STEDMAN’S MISSAL
I believe that there is one God Who created heaven and earth. (Continued)

Many people do not believe that there is a God who created everything.  There are many who are not sure, and there are many who have never thought about this question.
Belief or unbelief in God affects every area of our life.  It is worth putting some work into getting an answer!
Here is a little topic for thought:  Most of us believe that there is a principle called justice.  Do we all have to be just, regardless of government or society?  If so, where does justice come from?
To be continued…

Let’s Work For a Just Society!
When we sin, our choice affects others by harming them in some way.  In addition, our human weakness and the work of the Devil causes sin to spread like a disease.  These countless sins can corrupt a group or even a society.  Consider the large numbers of murders committed by Hitler’s followers.  New recruits learned from seasoned criminals to do horrible things.  This is an example of “Social Sin”.
We need to face the fact that our society has many Social Sins.  Although one is not guilty for what someone else does, there is more to the issue.  We need to pray for God’s help.  We need to work to convert others to God’s ways.  But there is still more to do.  We need to cooperate with others to correct injustices.
For example, we can not simply wish that misconduct by police officers would go away.  New structures need to be created, so that “bad cops” are dealt with, and “good cops” can do their jobs.
Can we do this peacefully?  We certainly can!
